Feature Friday | KimB Designs

Hello, Happy Friday, and welcome to another edition of our Feature Friday series here on The Digital Press blog! This week, I am thrilled to highlight Kim Broedelet of KimB Designs. Kim and I go way back… to my very first creative team spot (and we both live in sunny South Africa!). This is actually Kim’s fourth feature here on The Digital Press blog (you can find her feature from June 2016 HERE… from February 2017 HERE… and her more recent Foodie Friday post from January 2018 HERE).

In order to give you even more information about Kim, this time around I asked her to share with us 5 Things We Might Not Already Know About Her

  1. I’m the eldest of 3 sisters. I have been very lucky to have worked with my younger sister, Gaye (GS Creations), throughout most of my adult life. Starting from beginner layout artists, graphic designers, and studio managers at an advertising agency (Y & R Hedley Byrne)… right up to now as digital designers. It’s been an amazing privilege to have someone so close — a sister, at that — to share in my career and in something we are both so passionate about.
  2. I love music and have an eclectic collection… from Opera to Deep House. I can even play the old fashioned organ… you know, the type with the pedals and double keyboards? Yup — my Gran had one, and sent Gaye and I for lessons — which we hated at the time, but it did give us a good grounding for reading and playing music.
  3. I can’t go to sleep at night (even after a good party) if I haven’t at least read a page of my latest book (although I might have to re-read it later, LOL). I have to read before bedtime, though! It’s my way of relaxing. I’m a total bookworm — another thing I share with my whole family — and we have a ‘swop and meet’ every time we get together. My bookcase — filled with everything from horror to romance — gets swapped out every time we get together. So there is always something new for someone to read.
  4. I did acrobatics when younger, and loved it! I can still (at my age) put my feet on my head while sitting, and it freaks everyone out when I put my toes in my mouth… or run around doing cartwheels. It’s usually a party trick that comes out after a few glasses too many — LOL.
  5. I love to compete with the men in my life. I play golf, and love to fish against them. It’s great to have that competition in our family, which always brings a special banter and teasing each time we get together to do both. Right now my son Nathan — who has his South African colours for fishing — takes the ‘day’ most times, but I can still give him a go on the golf course thanks to the wonderful handicap system, LOL.

Feature Friday | Sherry Ferguson

Hello, and Happy Friday! Time for another edition of our Feature Friday series here on The Digital Press blog… and this week, I’m thrilled to highlight Sherry of Sherry Ferguson Designs. This is not the first time Sherry has been featured here on the blog (find her feature from July 2016 HERE… from February 2017 HERE… and her more recent Foodie Friday post from January 2018 — with the easy bake mac ‘n’ cheese… yum! — HERE).

I wanted to know even more about Sherry, however, so I asked her to share 5 Things We Might Not Already Know About Her

  1. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome — which is a form of connective tissue disease — as well as many other health problems that typically go along with it. It can make life very difficult a lot of the time. I just have to do what I can, when I can… and try to enjoy the little things.
  2. I’ve always loved taking pictures. Even back when it wasn’t cool to do so, I would carry around a camera. I think I have every photo I’ve taken since 3rd grade.
  3. I’ve lived in Texas my entire life and I haven’t left the state since right after my oldest daughter was born almost 17 years ago!
  4. I learned to water ski when I was six years old, but haven’t done so since I was sixteen. It’s definitely on my bucket list to try again if my body will allow!
  5. I’m a technology geek. I love learning about new devices, apps, and software as they come out… and really digging deep into how they work.

As for Sherry’s designs… you’ll definitely want to check out her shop here at TDP. If you love graphic-style papers mixed with elements such as flowers and ribbons, Sherry is definitely the designer for you! I love that she has a good assortment of mini kits in her shop, too, for those times when you’re looking for just one or two items to finish up a layout.

Here is a small sampling of the products you’ll find in Sherry’s shop, so you can see what I mean…

And here are some examples of projects that were made with her products, so you can see the versatility of Sherry’s kits (can you tell which one is actually a hybrid layout?!)…

I hope that you’ve enjoyed learning a little more about Sherry Ferguson Designs today! To celebrate her week as our Featured Designer at The Digital Press, her entire shop will be 30% OFF all week long (the sale will end at 11:59pm ET on Thursday 5/31).

Additionally, Sherry has a special Free-with-Purchase offer for everyone this week! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to stock up on your favorite products from Sherry Ferguson Designs …and you can also snag this fun kit — Inner Artist — for FREE with any $10+ purchase in her shop! (again, the offer is valid through 11:59pm ET on Thurs 5/31).

About the Author Kat Hansen is a creative team member here at The Digital Press. A Director of Human Resources by day, she loves the opportunity to spend a few hours each evening being creative. Vacation memories feature pretty heavily in Kat’s scrapbooking pages, as well as her health and fitness journey. Kat has quite the sense of humor (she “blames” her father for this), which she incorporates into her journaling and memory-keeping.

Feature Friday | Tracie Stroud

Happy Friday, everyone, and welcome to another edition of our Feature Friday series here on The Digital Press blog! This week, I’m excited to spotlight Tracie Stroud! This is Tracie’s fourth feature article here on The Digital Press blog (you can find her first feature from August 2016 HERE, another from April 2017 HERE, and her Foodie Friday post from November 2017 HERE).

In order to learn a little bit more about Tracie, I asked her to share 5 things we might not already know about her…

  1. I have a degree in elementary education, and I homeschool two of our children. I taught 5th grade for several years, but as soon as our oldest was born, my husband and I decided that I should stay home with her and any future kiddos, and homeschool all of them, eventually. Homeschooling is exhausting, but incredibly rewarding. I absolutely love taking the reins of their education.
  2. Our middle child, Noah, has moderate-severe autism. He was diagnosed when he was 3, and luckily we live in a great school district that is able to place him in special, very small autism classrooms. Every day is a challenge, but he has made a lot of progress with the help of school, private therapy, and a great support system from our family, friends, and church.
  3. I’m addicted to volunteer work. OK, maybe “addiction” isn’t the best word to use here… but my family and I are committed to volunteering in our community. We are honored to be able to serve several hours each week through my daughter’s American Heritage Girls troop, and in volunteer opportunities through our local Catholic diocese.
  4. I live in near-constant pain from fibromyalgia and debilitating migraines. Sometimes they are easy to manage, but most days are a constant juggling act to figure out what I can and can’t get accomplished that day. I’ve learned the hard way that if I push myself too hard, I’ll pay for it twofold later. The conditions also cause chronic brain fog, so I’ve learned to keep constant lists just to remember things that should be easy for most people.
  5. I am extremely introverted. I actually have sometimes-crippling social anxiety. While I love to help wherever I’m needed, I need to be in the background to be able to function. Tell me what to do and I’ll get it done… but ask me to speak or teach publicly, and I’m paralyzed. The phone ringing or someone knocking on the door when I wasn’t expecting a call or visit terrifies me. If I’m in a situation where I have to be around a lot of people for an extended period of time, I need to have some serious alone time afterwards to recharge.

When you check out Tracie’s designs in her store at TDP, you will notice that her products are a great mix of colors and styles. At first glance, you may notice that her designs lean toward the artsy side… but when you dig a little deeper, you’ll see that she always includes a lot of great dimensional elements, as well. Her designs are perfect for artsy as well as traditional/dimensional scrapbook pages. You will find tons of paints and doodles, and also beautiful dimensional flowers, brads, epoxy buttons, ribbons, and more. I dare you to check out Tracie’s store and not leave in a mood to scrap using her beautiful designs! (guess what I’m doing as soon as I finish this post?!)  😉

To show you what I mean… I have compiled a small sampling of the type of products you will find in Tracie’s shop…

Additionally, to show you her products in action… here are a few layouts that were made using her awesome creations…

I hope that you have enjoyed learning a little more about Tracie today! To celebrate her upcoming week as our Featured Designer at The Digital Press, her entire shop will be 30% OFF all week long (the sale will end at 11:59pm ET on Thursday 5/24).

Additionally, Tracie has a special Free-with-Purchase offer for everyone this week! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to stock up on your favorite products from Tracie Stroud, and you can also snag her gorgeous kit — Hello Happiness — for FREE with any $10+ purchase in her shop! (again, the offer is valid through 11:59pm ET on Thurs 5/24).

BarbaraAbout the Author  Barbara is a member of the creative team here at The Digital Press. She’s married, has two awesome kids (a 21 year old son and an 18 year old daughter) as well as an adorable Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier. With her “baby” off to college in a couple months and her son already in college she and her husband are soon to be empty nesters. It’s so weird. How did that happen so quickly?! Barbara is looking forward to this summer because as of a week ago she is on vacation. She is taking the summer off work (for the first time ever!) before she starts a new job in the city in the fall. She’s excited to have a couple months to hang out with her family, scrap (of course!), organize, visit friends and extended family, cook, go for walks and simply to relax (and maybe hang out in her jammies a little longer than she ever has before on weekday mornings). Life is good!

Feature Friday | Meagan’s Creations

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s time for another edition of our Feature Friday series here on The Digital Press blog… and this week, I’m thrilled to put the spotlight on Meagan of Meagan’s Creations! This is Meagan’s fourth feature at TDP (you can find her first feature from January 2017 HERE, another from June 2017 HERE, and her Foodie Friday post from November 2017 HERE).

In order to learn a little bit more about Meagan, so I asked her to share 5 things we might not already know about her. I loved reading her responses!

    1. While I love music, I can’t play any instruments. I took some piano lessons in middle school but unfortunately didn’t keep up with it. Still, if I’m listening to music while I’m typing on my keyboard, I often like to pretend I’m playing the piano as I type on the keys!
    2. I’m a bargain hunter. I’m not an extreme couponer by any means, but I do often stack coupons with sales, find ways to get a few freebies, and like to make the dollars stretch. My favorite tool? Giftcard Granny. It searches through “used” gift cards and finds the best deals. I’m currently eye-balling the 30% discounted AMC gift cards to go on a movie date with my husband here soon.
    3. I’m a mom of 4, with my 4th child being born just this past February! All four were born via c-section, and I am done! This last recovery was definitely the hardest!
    4. I am not athletically inclined but I did love taking Karate as a teenager. I held my own pretty well when grappling (or wrestling)… even against the boys.
    5. I’m a math nerd and my kids are turning into math nerds, too. My 7 year-old came home excitedly the other day because he found a calculator on the sidewalk. My 9-year old loves to ask me huge math problems and now the 3-year is asking me (simpler) math problems. He claps after I give my answer, even if it’s not right. So glad my kids think I’m some superhuman computer! I do love Sudoku though.

See what I mean? She’s real and simply amazing! Check out Meagan’s designs in her store here at TDP, and you will notice that her products are perfect for scrapping everyday moments. I love that Meagan is the queen of using bright and bold colors, and that she’s also super talented at making word art and templates too! She makes my scrapping life so much easier.

Here is a small sampling of the products you’ll find in Meagan’s shop, so you can see what I mean…

And here you can see some lovely layouts made using her products…

I hope that you’ve enjoyed learning a little more about Meagan of Meagan’s Creations today! To celebrate her week as our Featured Designer at The Digital Press, her entire shop will be 30% OFF all week long (the sale will end at 11:59pm ET on Thursday 5/17).

Additionally, Meagan has a special Free-with-Purchase offer for everyone this week! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to stock up on your favorite products from Meagan’s Creations …and you can also snag this gorgeous brand-new kit — Countryside — for FREE with any $10+ purchase in her shop! (again, the offer is valid through 11:59pm ET on Thurs 5/17).

Robin

About the author  Robin is a member of the creative team here at The Digital Press. A wife of 25 years and a mom of 4 crazy children (3 in college and 1 still at home), she says that her life occurs mostly in the car as she transports said crazy kids to their many, many homeschool activities. When not driving, Robin loves to make her family cringe by pulling out her camera again (and again, and again…).

Feature Friday | MEG Designs

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s time for another edition of our Feature Friday series here on The Digital Press blog… and this week, I’m thrilled to put the spotlight on Marie Eve Goudeseune of MEG Designs! This is Marie Eve’s fourth feature at TDP (you can find her first feature from November 2016 HERE, another from May 2017 HERE, and her Foodie Friday post from November 2017 HERE).

In order to learn even more about Marie Eve this time around, I asked her to share 5 things we might not already know about her…

  1. I love staying at home during the weekend and enjoying my house and my garden. It’s the place where I feel the best.
  2. I am a very cautious person and I am always cold everywhere. I don’t like winter much, except for my birthday. I prefer the summer even if in my country, the temperatures generally reach only 22-25 C in the summer.
  3. I am left-handed …but many things are not made for left-handed people in everyday life, such as scissors (I know, it makes everybody smile). But it’s a real problem to use right-handed scissors. Imagine that you should use scissors with the inverted blades. Fortunately, now we have left-handed scissors. 😉
  4. I don’t like horror movies. It’s still as scary as it was when I was a little girl. So, I never watch this kind of movie.
  5. I am bilingual (French/Dutch) and have been for a long time. I went to a Dutch-language school until I was 15 years old. My Mother tongue is French.

As for Marie Eve’s digital designs, she had the following to say about her creations… “all of my products are inspired by my private life, whether it’s my children, the holidays, the things we do, or even something that one of my children said. Usually, I have a theme in mind and then I observe what is around me and I find a color palette that fits my theme.” I really love her color combinations. Her templates are perfect for making cleanly-designed digital pages, and her journal cards are the final touch on every pocket-style layout. Whatever crafty style suits you, you will find the perfect item in her shop.

Here is just a small sampling of the products you’ll find in the MEG Designs shop here at The Digital Press…

And just to provide a little bit more inspiration for what can be done with her products… here are a handful of really fun projects that were created using items from the MEG Designs shop here at TDP…

I hope that you’ve enjoyed learning a little more about Marie Eve of MEG Design today! To celebrate her week as our Featured Designer at The Digital Press, the entire MEG Design store will be 30% OFF all week long (the sale will end at 11:59pm ET on Thursday 5/3).

blogfotoAbout the author  Astrid is a member of the creative team here at The Digital Press. She lives with her husband and her 2 teenage/adult kids in Germany. As a mini-jobber with only 10 hours/week, she has plenty of time for her digital scrapbooking hobby. She has Netflix and Amazon Prime, and is addicted to nearly all series. Vampires, zombies, vikings… it doesn’t matter; she likes everything. She loves the ocean and the summer heat, but lives in the opposite: mountains. Therefore, she loves visiting her family in Algeria or the south of France.

Feature Friday | Mari Koegelenberg

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s time for another edition of our Feature Friday series here on The Digital Press blog. This week, we’re excited to put the spotlight on the fantastically-talented Mari Koegelenberg! This is her fourth feature at TDP (you can find her first feature from October 2016 HERE, another from January 2017 HERE, and her Foodie Friday post from October 2017 HERE).

In order to learn a little bit more about Mari, we asked her to share 5 things about herself that we might not already know

  1. I am a Crazy Goat Lady* (or… replace goat with any of the following: duck/chicken/dog/cat or horse)! 🙂
  2. I am a Gamer — and a Huntmaster (my World of Warcraft Legion Main …although I might swap that title out with Deathlord since my pink-haired NELF is just as awesome).
  3. I am a Maker… a crafter, a baker, a designer, a gardener, a DIYer… creating keeps me sane and feeds my soul!
  4. I am a Collector (a.k.a. Hoarder? Embarrassing, yes… but true nonetheless… I do try, though, to keep organized and get rid of stuff!).
  5. I am a PRO-crastinator… emphasis on the PRO (I am really good at it!).

*here’s a look at Mari with one of her sweet animal friends from her family’s homestead farm…

When it comes to Mari’s design work… she loves color, and she says that it is what drives both the mood and themes of her collections. She also loves to sketch and draw, and you’ll find her amazing original illustrations in just about all of her products. Not only does Mari use this artwork to create fantastic digital scrapbooking kits, digital and hybrid planner supplies, and pocket-style scrapping items… she also has some really amazing cutting files in her shop, as well, which will help you make some stunning dimensional paper goodies!

Here is a sampling of some of our favorite items from the Mari Koegelenberg Creations shop here at TDP

Aren’t her products just amazing? It’s pretty much a given that you can always turn to Mari’s shop and find just the right item for any project! And it’s all so adorable!

It’s also really fun to look at her products in action when browsing the gallery at The Digital Press. Here are some really fantastic projects that were all creating using her wonderful products…
